Karen Fleischhacker Airasian is honored to serve as a board member for Jacoby’s Shield. She counts Xaviera and Stuart Latta among her closest friends, and is proud to be their daughter Jasmine’s godmother. The death of three-year-old Jacoby was tragic on so many levels, and yet the Lattas’ faith in God has resulted in a great deal of good to come out of something so heartbreaking.
Karen has a degree in Elementary Education from Columbia College and a Master of Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Her career has included providing therapy for children in foster care and in the juvenile justice system, providing advocacy for children in foster care through the Children’s Foster Care Review Board, conducting case management reviews of child fatality cases in the South Carolina Department of Social Services system, and currently serving as a preschool teacher at Lexington United Methodist Church. Karen’s passions include the safety of and overall well-being of all children. Karen’s husband, Greg, is a teacher and coach at Lexington High School, and their two young daughters are students in Lexington School District #1.
